Dating Mark Zuckerberg: the rules

Filed under: Dating News — iChat Media Solutions @ 2:18 am

A year ago this summer, Priscilla Chan graduated from Harvard and moved to Palo Alto to live near her boyfriend, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. But before she did, Chan and Zuckerberg, pictured, held a series of “negotiations” over how often she would get to see him, according to Sarah Lacy’s book Once You’re Lucky, Twice You’re Good. The final contract, according to Lacy:

One date per week, a minimum of a hundred minutes of alone time, not in his apartment and definitely not at Facebook.

Chan recently squired Zuckerberg to his sister Randi’s wedding. No word on who caught the bouquet, and Facebook insiders are mum about the couple’s prospects of an engagement. Come to think of that, perhaps that’s a good thing. If dating was this tough, can you imagine working out the prenup?

Filed under: Dating News — iChat Media Solutions @ 2:17 am

BOND girl GEMMA ARTERTON is reportedly dating her ROCKNROLLA co-star TOBY KEBBELL – after the pair fell for each other while filming the movie.
The British actress allegedly fell for the 25-year-old Alexander star’s charms while working on the latest gangster movie by Madonna’s husband Guy Ritchie.
And the pair don’t have to worry about their hectic movie schedules ruining their romance – they are set to appear opposite each other in forthcoming blockbuster Prince Of Persia, scheduled to be shot later this year (08) in Egypt.
A source tells Britain’s Mail On Sunday, “Romance is on the cards. They hit it off when they were making RocknRolla and fell for each other on set.”

Dating Expert Reveals the Type of Woman a Vehicle Attracts

LeaseTrader.com and DeAnna Lorraine Analyze Today’s Popular Men’s Vehicles MIAMI, June 9 /PRNewswire/ — It may be what’s on the inside that counts, but it’s what’s outside that attracts. So LeaseTrader.com and dating coach DeAnna Lorraine (www.DeAnnaLorraine.com) give insight on what women really think of the cars men drive.

http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20070605/CLTU058LOGO )

Ms. Lorraine says a man’s vehicle sends messages about his character that women immediately pick up on. “A man’s car reveals a lot about his personality and values, and may determine a woman’s attraction toward him,” states Ms. Lorraine. “Women pay attention to more than just a man’s personal looks.”

So what’s your car saying about you?

LeaseTrader.com shared with Ms. Lorraine the five most popular leased vehicles men drive, according to user data on the site. Ms. Lorraine then created a profile that represents the vehicle’s personality traits:

Chevy Suburban: These men like travel, adventure and spending time with friends and family. These vehicles attract women that are family-oriented, down-to-earth and easy-going.

Mercedes S-Class: These men are classy, successful, stylish and “Sugar Daddies.” These vehicles attract women that are in their late 30s and 40s, sophisticated, and enjoy being taken care of.

Ford F-150: These men tend to be insecure and overcompensate on a tough, macho level. These vehicles attract women that prefer to be protected by a man so they can feel safe.

Corvette: These men are conservative but are trying to satisfy a mid-life crisis by displaying their wild side through their car. These vehicles attract women that are attracted to the bad-boy image, and are typically “hot,” bad girls themselves that are impulsive, wild and rebellious.

Toyota Camry: These men are solid, reliable and committed. These vehicles attract women that are sweet, level-headed, uncomplicated and undemanding.

If you’re unhappy with your current vehicle, or if you want to start attracting a different type of woman, www.LeaseTrader.com can help you exchange your current lease for a different vehicle. For advice on enhancing your dating life, seek DeAnna’s assistance at http://deannalorraine.com/ .

Online dating benefits from credit crunch

Filed under: Dating News — iChat Media Solutions @ 2:11 am
By Robert Jaques.

While most industries are feeling the pinch from the global credit crunch, the online dating sector appears to be benefiting.

PlentyMoreFish.com said that it has seen an unprecedented fourfold increase in new members joining in the past month.

Steve Moylan, co-owner and manager of the site, believes that a reaction to the credit crunch is the only explanation for the increased interest.

“We have not undertaken any unusual marketing activity during the period, nothing that we were not doing in the months before this sudden increase in interest in our site,” he said.

“We have come to the conclusion that people are looking for other ways of meeting people that do not involve going out on the town every night.”

Moylan suggested that the credit crunch will have the greatest effect on single people who live alone or with children, making them think harder about how they socialise and spend their limited “fun money”.

“Online they can search for and chat with other people in their area and make a date for the weekend, reducing the amount of money they have to spend going out to find a date in the first place,” he said.

Allen dating Hoffman’s son?

Filed under: Dating News — iChat Media Solutions @ 2:00 am

Pop star Lily Allen has sparked rumours she is dating the son of Hollywood actor Dustin Hoffman.

The Smile singer – who recently split from Chemical Brother star Ed Simons – was spotted spending time with wannabe film director Max Hoffman during the Cannes International Film Festival in France last month.

But the Daily Star Sunday is reporting that the pair have struck up a relationship and plan on meeting up as soon as Hoffman next visits her native UK.

A source tells the publication, “Max and Lily were at this VIP bash and she started chatting him up. He thought she was a lovely, cute girl, but didn’t have a clue who she was.

“They sneaked off and had some private time together but I don’t think it went as far as either of them wanted it to.

“Max was gutted she was leaving for London the next day. They swapped numbers and have been in constant touch ever since.”

Cable channel revives "Newlywed" and "Dating" games (Reuters via Yahoo! News)

Filed under: Dating News — iChat Media Solutions @ 8:37 am

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Two more staples from the game show golden age are returning to television: GSN is readying 21st century versions of the popular 1970s classics “The Dating Game” and “The Newlywed Game.”The cable channel, formerly known as Game Show Network, is casting hosts for pilot episodes, with full series orders looking likely. The new versions will incorporate modern elements, including online dating sites. Michael Davies (”Wife Swap,” “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire“), is set to executive produce both shows.

“They’re much-loved shows, and we thought the time was right for a revival,” said Jamie Roberts, senior vp programming at GSN. “We’re pretty confident we’ll get there and possibly put them to series for 2009.”

Though vintage repeats of “Newlywed” and “Dating” have aired on GSN for years (as well as a brief first-run syndication edition of “Newlywed” in the 1990s), this marks the first time the network has produced new versions.

The move comes on the heels of primetime broadcast revamps of CBS’ “Password” and “The Price Is Right ” on CBS, with NBC’s “Family Feud” coming in the summer. The classic game shows fulfill two increasingly common television programming mandates: They’re inexpensive and have pretested brands.

GSN is going to experiment with a few new ideas during the development process to help modernize the shows.

For “Dating Game,” the network is seeking to partner with an online dating site like eharmony.com to use a compatibility test that helps find worthwhile dates for the show’s bachelors and bachelorettes. GSN also wants to have contestants be able to consult with best friends during the show about which date to select. Having occasional gay or lesbian contestants also has not been ruled out.

On “Newlywed Game,” GSN plans to add a showdown round where the winning young couple plays against an older couple who won a yesteryear “Newlywed” episode.

The network plans to finalize deals with hosts this week. Most of the current hosting candidates would bring more contemporary twists to the shows.

“We’re trying to find unusual candidates to take these shows and reinvent them,” Roberts said.

So far, the game show revival on broadcast has produced uneven results. CBS’ “Price Is Right Primetime” held its own on Friday nights in March, but then struggled when moved to Wednesdays in May. The debut of “Password” won its Sunday night time period but posted relatively modest numbers.

Producer Chuck Barris launched “The Dating Game” in 1965 and “The Newlywed Game” a year later. Both shows have been revived at least once. “Newlywed” was most recently remade for a syndicated version in 1996 hosted by original emcee Bob Eubanks. The original “Newlywed” series was considered somewhat risque and was one of the first shows to have offensive language bleeped out.

Mental-health client accused of beating agency employee he was dating (The Journal News)

Filed under: Internet Dating — iChat Media Solutions @ 2:25 am

MOUNT PLEASANT – A resident of a halfway house for psychiatric patients is accused of severely beating a staff counselor he had been dating, holding her captive in a car until the woman’s parents reached her by telephone, police said yesterday.

Hearing her terrified voice, the parents called 911, and police later discovered the bloody couple parked a quarter-mile away from the halfway house, Mount Pleasant Police Chief Louis Alagno said.

David Sanchez, a 21-year-old living at Sunset House in Thornwood, was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and unlawful imprisonment and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, both misdemeanors.

The 25-year-old victim suffered a fractured eye socket, a lost tooth, a punctured eardrum and other facial injuries in the assault, which occurred early Friday, the police chief said.

The couple left her parents’ home in the Bronx the previous night. At that time, she asked her mother to call her at 5 a.m. to make sure she was awake in time for work at Sunset House at 11 Sunset Drive, a group home run by Albany-based Rehabilitation Support Services that prepares people with mental-health problems to return to the community.

When the daughter answered her cell phone the next morning, she sounded distressed, the police chief said. Her mother asked whether she was in trouble, and the daughter responded “yes.” The mother then asked whether she was going to work, and she replied, “I can’t.”

The parents, who spoke with her three times that morning, called police and provided a description of her car. Mount Pleasant officers found the Nissan on Lilac Place, with the bloody woman and Sanchez inside the car.

The woman was taken to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.

Sanchez was placed under arrest. He is being held in the Westchester County jail with bail set at $50,000, pending an appearance Thursday in Town Court.

The home is licensed by the state Office of Mental Health, and the incident is likely to trigger an investigation by the agency, a spokeswoman said.

“Any romantic involvement between a staff person and a client of a program licensed by the Office of Mental Health is an ethical violation and a reportable incident,” said the spokeswoman, Jill Daniels. “Additionally, if a staff person involved in such a relationship is a licensed professional, that person could lose their license as a result.”

The incident had not been reported to the state agency as of late yesterday, she said.

The group home’s operator did not respond to calls from the newspaper yesterday.
