Ever considered online dating? What’s been holding you back? Worried about what your friends and family might think? Think that people that date online are losers, aliens (with 3 heads), unattractive, or socially inept? Oh I know..maybe you’ve heard one of those nightmarish match.com stories about a girl that chatted online for 2 months with what appeared to be an absolutely “dreamy” guy, met him out at a bar, only to find out that OH NO! HE WAS NOT THE GUY IN THE PICTURES!! GASP!

Ok..that sucks for her..but life is about risk isn’t it? About being proactive? What if by some miracle of events the earth’s gravitational pull was able to attract and bring together two souls via the internet? Two souls that had been missing each other every morning on the 6 train subway platform, or on lazy Sunday afternoons at Pinkberry, or every Wed morning at the light on 34th and 2nd? And not just two souls people but two souls that were destined to be together FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER! Dare I say…SOULMATES!

Alright..in an attempt at poking fun at our love obsessed society I think I really just made myself nauseous. You don’t really believe in this soulmate thing do you? Come on! There are like over 6 billion people on the planet. Do you really think there’s just one person out there for you? Call me jaded (everyone else does) but this is sooooooo not realistic. People DO meet and feel some type of connection, it’s called LUST! Sometimes it develops further into a friendship, and perhaps marriage and children. If you are thinking that the universe is going to bring this “one-of-a-kind”, “custom-made”, perfect human being to you then I have some swamp land I’d like to show you first thing tomorrow morning!

I used to be just like you. Thinking that if I were just patient enough Mr. Right would come knocking on my door, a perfect chiseled 6′4″, dressed in Armani and wearing my favorite BOND cologne. Damn that scent just does something to me! Sorry..I digress. Anway,by the time you reach your mid-thirties reality starts to set in and rear it’s ugly head. You may also start to recall some of the scientific principles, theories, and laws that you learned in school. Remember the lowest common denominator? Whoever thought it would come in handy. I was just at the supermarket purchasing hot dogs and the count for the buns were 12 count and the hot dogs were 8. So glad I was paying attention in class that day! Sorry..I digress again. My overall favorite though would have to be The Law of Probability.
